Why Choose Earthpaint? So you can have great paint without the poisons! Beauty, strength and sustainability are vital to us and we show this in every product we make.
We specialize at creating beautiful, modern finishes in the most non-toxic, eco-friendly ways possible. Our main facility is gravity fed and has a production capacity of 1,000,000 gallons per year, with more than 35 years of paint production experience.
Our biodegradable green finishes contain non-toxic, native ingredients derived from plants, vegetables, trees, minerals and elements. Nearly all of these components are gathered locally (within a day’s drive of Asheville, NC). We do not use anything that gets shipped in from overseas.
In an industry dominated by an overuse of dangerous petrochemicals, Earthpaint instead practices only responsible, limited use of these materials and has proven that there are better, kinder alternatives. We do not use any toxic petrochemical solvents. We do not use any mineral spirits, naphtha, toluene, xylene, formaldehyde or benzene. At present, 30% of our containers are recycled. Our goal is to use 100% recycled containers within 2 years.
Earthpaint Inc. won’t compromise our product quality by adding harmful ingredients, and we don’t have to! We are making nontoxic products that are at least as good as –and often much better- than conventionally made alternatives. Unlike common belief, toxic emissions do not end when paint dries, even with acrylic latex or wood finishes. This is why we offer high quality paint without toxic petro-chemical solvents and other common hazards. Why bother trying to anticipate how long poisons will seep into your environment? If there aren’t any in there to begin with, there’s no need to worry at all. Better paints, without the poisons!
We also consider the impact of a product from it’s inception to it’s eventual end, asking questions such as “How much energy do we use to make this floor finish?”, “What resources are used in this wall paint? Are they renewable? Sustainable?”, “How does this concrete sealer decompose after its lifespan has ended?” If the answers aren’t satisfactory we change the process until they are. If an ingredient isn’t safe for a painter it doesn’t go in. If it’s not safe for the planet...the animals...people -it does not go in!!!
We are determined to change the way paint is made on an industrial scale, because we want clean air to breath and fewer poisons in our environment. This is why we use terms like enviro-social responsibility and petro-poisons. There are millions of people who want colorful, decorative surfaces without realizing the impact they have on themselves, each other, or the planet. By calling things what they are –poisons- the choice becomes more obvious. Buying paint that has a positive impact on our workspaces, our homes and children, the air we breath, sends the message to those who are manufacturing poisons on a large scale. We want a healthy, strong world to live in!
Perhaps home-made paint would be best, but commercial manufacturing of paint is still the safest, most effective way of providing millions of people with good paint. Creating paint that can truly replace and reinvent the old toxic standards requires a high level of expertise in the formulation and production. Luckily we have both the expertise, as well as a true dedication to sustainably-oriented industrialization that is responsible, natural and well-thought-out. By supporting Earthpaint Inc. you are supporting responsible business practices, rather than simple for-profit methods that harm the planet.
Earthpaint Inc., works closely with community to provide beautiful, satisfying finishes without the dangers common to paints. We want to show that business and responsible eco-practices can coexist. That good paint and poison don't have to be synonymous. At present, it costs us more to use wholesome native ingredients for our paint, but we believe that as others join us the costs will be reduced. Additionally, every geographic area has a unique set of natural resources that could create a uniquely suited local paint. We can help identify these materials and use them to make paint locally, wherever that may be. This exponentially reduces the amount of transportation and processing fuel for the production and distribution of paint.
