Thanks for supporting locally made paint! I am a paint contractor who was poisoned by paint chemicals and set out to prove that it is possible to make “Great paint without the poison!”. As a contractor I never found a safe paint that was worth using. I fell under the belief that the more toxic the paint the better the performance. I wanted a cheap paint and I wanted it fast but my health was sacrificed. Over the years, as we’ve built Earthpaint, I’ve always kept this in mind. The paint has to be tough but without sacrificing health.

There are some major differences between Earthpaint and other “green” paints you may have tried. First, this isn’t the kind of paint you’ll find at a large chain store. It’s a specialty paint. We make Non-toxic | Sustainable paint. Our paint is locally made and locally sourced. We formulate and manufacture it in Asheville and Statesville. No ingredients from overseas! Nearly all ingredients come from within a day’s drive of Asheville.
We use wind energy offsets to justify our electricity usage and gravity fed vats to conserve the energy that is consumed. Our cans biodegrade quickly and safely or can be recycled. The labels are unbleached, paper with no plastic coatings. Every single ingredient is scrutinized and must be safe from manufacture to landfill. All this plus the demand that it must be as tough as the best conventional paint.

We Never use vinyl, ethylene glycol, alcohol ester (texanol) or n-methyl pyrrolidone. And most importantly the toxic additives that you’ll find in most conventional paint (including many Low VOC paints) are thoroughly re-engineered in Clear Skies. Mountain XT- Top Coat for Logs, Siding, Decks. Use Mountain XT for a single coat application on pressure treated decks that will not receive a top coat.
