Lime Clean works fast! It is a mineral based replacement for the use of toxic bleach as an outdoor deck cleaner. Brush it onto wet wood, let it sit 15-20 minutes and pressure wash it off. Or if you don't want to pressure wash just give it a quick scrub and rinse it off the a garden hose!

Deck Cleaner Information

WoodCleaner

Why its Great: Lime Clean cleans wood fast! It is the BEST Wood and Deck Cleaner! Spray, Brush or Roll it onto a black mold and mildew stained deck fast. It is practically odorless and contains no bleach or chlorine and therefore does not create acid rain or leach into groundwater systems. Despite its positive environmental impact it is a very strong cleaner and will quickly remove mill glaze on logs. Lime Clean removes most Algae, Mold and Mildew Stains.

Cedar, Ipe, Pressure Treated, Redwood, Locust: Lime Clean easily nuetralizes and washes tannic acid off the surface leaving the surface ready to be coated. This means that dense or oily wood that wouldn't accept other stains can finally look the way you want it. Simply wash with Lime Clean and its ready to be coated with Rainforest Sealer, Mountain XT or Aqualine Solid Stain.

Coverage: Sft / gl Coverage is excellent averaging 300- 1000 sft / gl depending on porosity of surface and thickness of application. Figure 300 sft / gl on rough, heavily stained wood. 1000 sft / gal on smooth, new wood with product diluted 1:1. Can be used full strength for heavily soiled areas or it can be cut in half with water for low to medium soiled areas. Don't allow to dry into wood. If by mistake it is left to dry on wood, wet for 30 minutes and then scrub and rinse.

Darkening Note: Test first, especially on new locust, exotic woods, cedar and redwood. Make sure you like the color. Certain woods may darken somewhat from washing with Lime Clean. If staining with Brown Cedar (like the one pictured) or darker this is generally inconsequential but if you are using a light color or clear you should test that color on a washed section of Lime Clean first to be sure it comes out the way you want it. Lime Clean does an amazing job of nuetralizing the tannins and washing away contaminants from these woods but it also leaves certain woods darker. If you find that you want less darkening you can use Earth Clean as instructed for decks on that product label.

Sanding: It is a good professional practice to sand decks with 50-60 Grit before coating. Sanding can be done before or after Lime Clean. On pressure treated or mold and algae stained decks sanding is best done after Lime Clean. On new, non porous wood or exotic hardwoods sanding is usually best done first becuase it allows Lime Clean to penetrate deeper into the wood; opening up the pores for the stain to penetrate most effectively.

Basic Deck Cleaning Instructions

How To Use Lime Clean: Test First. Wear rubber gloves & boots and goggles, long pants and shirt. Protect plants. Soak the wood with water. Brush, roll or airless spray Lime Clean on and allow it to sit and do it's work for 20 to 90 minutes. Do not allow it to dry. Lightly mist with water every 3-5 minutes or as needed. Scrub stained areas. Use a stiff bristle scrub brush on a pole or an old paint brush for rails. Rinse with a jet stream hose until clean or use a pressure washer with a 15 degree nozzle (avoid furring up the wood by staying away approx. 12-24 inches depending on condition & hardness of the wood.) After rinsing, If the wood color darkens and you want it lighter pour white distilled vinegar on the wood for 10 minutes and rinse.

Rinse Lime Clean into the soil with large amounts of water to dilute it. Protect plants before starting on your project.

Stay in Place Cleaner: Many cleaners are so watery that they roll off the surface & dry before they have time to really work. This can also be problematic when working over sensitive areas that you want to be careful around. Lime Clean is an excellent "stay in place" cleaner. When you brush it on, it stays where you put it. Even when you mist it to keep it wet, as long as you don't oversoak it, Lime Clean stays in place.

Nuetralizaton: For general use there is no need to nuetralize pH. Lime Clean will automatically take care of this. It will turn into calcium carbonate (marble dust) after it sits in soil, this is a nuetral pH state which is why it's used in antacids like Tums. If you want to nuetralize the rinsing of Lime Clean before it washes into the ground, you can pour or spray distilled vinegar over Lime Clean, let sit 5 minutes, and then rinse.
