Application Summary

Square Foot Coverage: Figure up to 740 Sft / gal on most new logs, decks and wood that is not greatly weathered. On weathered, porous wood, logs and decks figure 300-500 sft / gl. On rough sawn wood or rough shakes figure 200-400 sft/gl.

First Coat, Penetrating Stain Application: Brush, Spray or Roll one generous coat of stain into the deck, log or siding. Brush into thirsty wood until it stops drinking it up. Allow to soak in overnight. Don't allow to puddle. Back brush or dry brush product into the wood to insure all product penetrates in and does not lay on surface.

Clear Top Coat: XT is available in Clear. This film resists Black Mold stains the most. It goes on top of the stain. As soon as the first stain coat dries, come back and apply a second and / or third Clear Top Coat to the wood. Brush, Roll or Spray until the wood no longer accepts more product and builds a good strong film.

Dilute: Pure Citrus Solvent. Diluting Mountain XT is not necessary but can be done as indicated on the label at the users discretion.

Dry: Allow 24-72 hours to dry. If humidity level is high Mountain XT will take longer to dry.

Maintenance Recoats: Inspect annually. Wash with Lime Clean Wood and Deck Cleaner and recoat with Mountain XT as needed. Build up the high weather exposure areas with multiple coats so they are good and strong and can endure without the need for much maintenance. Sand glossy surfaces first.

Clean Up: Pure Citrus Solvent.

Product Description

 

Profile: Mountain XT is a phenomenal Deck Stain and Log Finish. It is super tough outside and doesn't have any poisons common to typical deck stain and log finish. The cashew resin doesn't support mold, mildew and algae growth and can be washed and maintained, year after year, with relative ease. It gets brushed and rolled into the deck, siding or logs and looks absolutely rich and fantastic!

Sheen & Coverage: Mountain XT is essentially a flat deck stain & log finish. It does nourish the wood so a better desription may be that it has a very soft, Matte Finish when one coat is applied. Some people apply more than one coat. Multiple coats will have more sheen. This will be semi gloss at first and then over the first 3-6 months as it cures and hardens, it will dull down to a nice Satin to Eggshell finish . This is the optimum sheen for long term durability on Vertical surfaces. Sft / gl Coverage is excellent averaging as much as 500 sft / gl on pressure treated decks and up to 740 sft / gl on pine logs. Weathered, Rough Sawn, soft and porous woods will use more product, typically 200-400 sft/ gal.

 

Mountain XT is the worlds first renewable and natural, Exterior Grade Urethane! No Isocyanates are used in its manufacture. Our Cashew Resin resists UV Radiation as well as stains like Mildew, Fungi, Algae, Water and Chemical stains. This sustainable deck stain and log & siding finish gets exceptional coverage per gallon requiring less product to complete the job. Mountain XT isn't just a petrochemical oil that soaks wood. It is not going to stay wet in the wood like some Log Finish. It is going to dry to a hard protective film that resists the harshest weather and black mold stains.

As a penetrating decking stain Mountain XT will be very easy to maintain and all of the true definition and character of the deck and logs will be right up front and visible. This is a great exterior stain. You just brush or roll it into the deck and it soaks deep into the decking fibers providing, natural and long lasting wood protection. XT will dry slowly and deeply into the wood as zinc borate and cashew resin lock out unwanted weather and pests. Our dense cashew resin won't evaporate out like high voc stains that are loaded with solvents. This resin is so thick in the barrel you could jump on it. But that's not how we turn it into the worlds best deck stain, log & exterior stain. We can't disclose that secret but we can say the waste from the cashew is actually recycled into resin! To be clear: All the Cashew food still actually goes to the market! SUSTAINABILITY IS VITAL!!!

Mountain XT has fantastic inherent microbrial resistance from the patented cashew technology. Water beads up and rolls off. UV Radiation resistance is excellent even in harsh, full sun, southern facing environments. For added protection we’ve added Zinc Borate which is used for extra defense against UV, algae stains, fungi stains and wood boring insect holes.

NO BENZENE! What's not in it? Made from Cashews! NOT toxic NMP like water based polyurethane, NOT Mineral Spirits or poisonous petrochemical based solvents. There are no isocayanates used in the manufacturing process. These dangerous chemicals can infiltrate the communities near them. We don’t support isocyanate manufacturing, which is why we avoid all Polyurethane. Brutal biocides and mildewcides like Butyl Carbamate, Copper-8-Quinolinolate and Benzene are absolutely unnecassary. Mountain XT is the best deck stain, log & exterior stain option to come around since Linseed Oil but better!

Wood Stain Colors: For a natural wood tone on light colored woods use Light Honey. On darker woods like cedar and ipe use Honey stain. This gives more protection from sunlight yet is hardly shows up in the wood and looks very natural. For dark brown stain try Toffee, Fawn, Acorn or Raisin. Raisin stain is one of the darker browns. Acorn is lighter. To make Pressure Treated last longer Bark, Cinnamon Stick, Cool Leaf and Brown Cedar are very nice looking stains. To make a Pressure treated deck look more like a higher quality, natural toned woodl (like cedar) use Light Cedar, Honey, Caramel, Butterscotch or Brown Cedar stains.

Penetrating Stain: XT can be used clear without stain but to get a long lasting exterior finish you actually will do best by selecting a lightly tinted stain. Ironically, this little bit of color will go a long way to keeping the wood looking natural longer. Otherwise wood will start to grey with prolonged sunlight exposure. There are many great stain colors to choose from that provide a goot bit of protection against UV Radiation. [Light Honey, Honey, Light Cedar, Golden Rod are all very lightly tinted]. Of course, its fine to use Mountain XT clear, without stain added but this is best for quality woods like Locust, Ipe, Cedar. Brush and Roll one coat of Mountain XT for a Matte Finish Penetrating Stain. Let it soak in completely to a natural matte (flat) finish.

Clear Weather Barrier Topcoat: For the best, longest lasting exterior wood finish apply a clear top coat of Mountain XT over your penetrating stain. Do this on vertical surfaces and leave the horizontal surfaces with one penetrating stain coat of Mountain XT. Apply Mountain XT clear over the penetrating stain, until the wood fibers are completely covered. This is a super long lasting wood finish that resists greying and black mold stains better than anything we have seen. With this hard, weather barrier film your wood will stay dry and safe. You will be able to wash the surface down with a hose every spring and keep your home looking great year after year.
