It's the best we've found from American Flax and is super easy to apply. It's similar to high grade polymerized linseed oil but very clear and not so thick that it won't soak deep into the wood. This is a rare oil finish.
WHAT'S IN IT? Nothing but pure linseed oil. Special Linseed Oil is pure flax oil that is specially selected from the best batches of each years crop. It is made in small boutique grade batches using an extensive filtration process as well as special heating and aging processes. FOOD AND DRUG ADMINISTRATION COVERAGE: Product meets requirements for use under the following section of Title 21 (Food and Drug) of the Code of Federal Regulations: §175.300 Resinous and Polymeric Coatings.
Different Types of Linseed Oil: Special Linseed Oil is not to be confused with regular linseed oils.
Raw Linseed Oil: This is basically flax oil that was manufactured in a non food vats and machinery. That may sound good at first but flax oil has a great deal of things in it that do not make for a good wood finish. Raw linseed oil is what we consider the lowest quality linseed oil besides Boiled Linseed Oil.
Boiled Linseed Oil: In the past this oil was cooked but nowadays the term "Boiled Linseed Oil" indicates "Raw" linseed oil that has driers added to it. Double Boiled Linseed Oil has twice the amount of driers added.
Application (penetrating):
Brush, Mop, Wipe, Rag, or roll on thin coats so that it fully penetrates the wood.
Log Homes and Timber Frame Interiors:
For log and timber frame homes we usually brush on and then back brush. This simply means we brush over the coated surface with a brush that isn't dipped in oil (dry).
Dilute: Use Pure Citrus Solvent or Corn Solvent to dilute if desired. Diluting is not necessary. Can be diluted up to 50%.
Help it Dry Naturally: Open windows and turn on fans to allow fresh air into the room BEFORE coating the room. If humidity level is high product will take longer to dry.
Maintenance | Re-coats: Wash lightly with diluted Earth Clean to keep clean. Can be recoated as desired with more Special Linseed Oil Wood Finish.
Clean Up: Earth Clean & Water
